Um, sorry. I am just confused. Why is same sex marriage allowed? Rokugan has always had political arranged marriages as the norm. I'm fine with same sex couples being a thing in Rokugan but marriage has always been about politics and family lineage. Same sex relationships, just like pretty much all relationships based on love should be limited to the Winter Court and secret affairs. Same sex attraction should definitely be a thing and not at all a shameful thing but marriage is just completely different in Rokugan compared to how it is in our world.

Because it's a fantasy game.

There's literal magic and spirits flying around, so we're already pretty far off being uber-super-hyper-realistic to feudal Japan. Adding something that is already in another edition, that being 5e, is the only way I'm gonna run the game.

Political marriages and still do happen, but now it's slightly better in that people get to at least marry the sex they like and then adopt, having that child considered their biological child, or they could have a concubine. They don't have to be in love, not by any standards, but plainly speaking, it's no longer something like having a lesbian or gay person being forced to have a bio child with a person of the sex that they aren't attracted to in any manner.

Ok I guess that makes sense. It just rankles me somewhat considering Rokugan's focus on lineage and I don't see how an unhappy arranged marriage to someone of the same sex is any better than an unhappy arranged marriage to the opposite sex. But it's your game, I'm the new guy, and like I said it's not my decision to make so I won't make any more stink about it. Thank you for the explanation. As an aside, are you making arranged marriages less of the norm as well? Because if that's the case it also makes a bit more sense.

I am also used to 3e and 4e where it isn't a thing. So I see it as a major departure from the lore. But if you are used to 5e it now makes sense why you would be more used to it. Sorry about being a THAT Guy. I didn't mean to come across as one. I'm just used to love being a thing for the storybooks and Winter Court while marriage is purely political.

Well, currently it's pretty chilly and rough with the storm coming lol

Usually it's on the cooler side and fairly calm with the occasional larger wave coming in. Beach is a gentle slope.
