[D3, EA](Medical Tent) On hands and knees (Expecting)

[Daidoji Kenzo]

Kenzo entered the medical tent with a long low bow. he was dressed rather informally even for himself, wearing his forest browns with an accept of Crane blue and scanned the interior for his new Ronin friend.

[Koumori]

She was found towards the back of the tent where a few cabinets were set up, along with tables covered with herb bundles, jars, salves, and a few yagen of varying sizes. As expected, the short woman was grinding away at the yagen, working on something or another, and not paying attention to anything else going on. There were two other medics in the room, one writing down in a book and the other walking with a patient who seemed to have gotten a nasty cut on his leg.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

He made his way to the back of tent, being careful to give the injured patient as much space as they needed. "Good afternoon Koymo-san, how is the day treating you?"

[Koumori]

Komyo looked up at him and blinked in surprise before realizing and remembering the conversation yesterday. Still, even with that short delay, she rushed into a quick, formal, and deep bow to Kenzo. After holding it for a bit longer than necessary, she rose and nodded with a bit of a smile. Her way of saying it was going well.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"That is good." He plopped down beside her but left enough room for her to work and be comfortable. "What are you working on here it's very fragrant?"

[Koumori]

She gestured to a bundle of marigold, then to one of lavender, and then finally to one of what looked like green tea leaves. Then her book came out. "Good for fighting off infection." She wrote neatly before showing him what she had written. "For any breaks in the skin." After placing her book down, she pulled out a stool and set it down next to where he was sitting.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Thank you" he said as he took the offered seat. "Don't let me distract you too much, you can just nod if you want but I was curious about the hand signals you used yesterday. Scouts all over the empire use basic hand gestures for things like Stop, Go That Way and communicating numbers and they say the Crab have a more detailed version but I'm curious as to how detailed yours is. Can you have whole conversations with it?"

[Koumori]

She shook her head when he tried to take her seat. She then gestured to the cot nearby, then pointed at him, then at the cot again. There weren't many things she had to take seriously, but her job was one of them. Moments later, she moved the stool again closer to it so she could get to his knee easier. When all was settled, that's when she answered his question with a nod and a thumbs up.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Oh, I'm so sorry; how stupid of me."

He moved over to the cot as instructed and ruled up the left leg of his hakama to reveal a knee that was dribbled in size and more black than purple.

"You know that advice about staying of my leg if I could? Yeah, I may have overdone it a bit. More than a bit, I did a lot of swimming yesterday and by the time night came and I wanted to leave my room for a snack I couldn't bend it at all."

[Koumori]

She gave him a very flat look. It was that of a doctor looking at a patient who had ignored their warning and was now worse. Which this exactly was. Then she shook her head and wiggled a finger at him. A bold statement from her, especially considering her behavior before, but now she was in her domain.

Within moments, she had returned with a bandage, some ointment, a bit of flowery-smelling oil, and a shake of her head. A few drops of the oil were placed on his knee and she began to tenderly rub it over the area, though not much as a massage since this was past that by now.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I wanted to cut the damned thing off last night it hurt so much and really got in the way of plans I had made. But someone needed to find out what is under the water at the cove right? There could have been a cave with a monster in it. Instead I found clams, but I only swam south so who knows what's north along the cove."

He knew he wasn't helping his cause by rambling but he felt genuinely foolish and deserving of whatever tongue-lashing she was likely giving him in her head.

[Koumori]

The look now was even flatter. There was plenty she wanted to say, but knew that her barrage of sign language wouldn't do much of anything at this point. Instead, she shook her head and that was about all she could do before mimicking sawing off right above his knee.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Has anyone ever told you that you have very expressive eyes Komyo-san? Look you had to have been there but believe me when I say it was almost worth it and not being able to leave my room last night was a greater punishment than anyone deserves."

He winced, not in pain but in preparation for the painful squeeze of his knee that he thought was coming.

[Koumori]

As tempting as it was, Komyo wouldn't harm a patient like that. Instead, she continued to rub the oil into his knee as best and tenderly she could. The pain relief it brought was slower acting, but should last longer if all went well.

At his almost compliment, she then narrowed her eyes at him before rolling them.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

The wince faded when her touch remained gentle and his smile returned.

"So about your hand language. There is a Hiruma scout here by the name of Heiko and we were talking about hand signals and I mentioned you and how elaborate you gestures were. She was curious how similar it may be to the Hiruma hand-talk and I was wondering if maybe you would be willing to teach me? I'm a big fan of learning new skills and it would make chatting with you a lot easier."

[Koumori]

The look on her face was one of surprise when he asked about learning. It wasn't something she had expected, especially not of any samurai on the island. Then the look shifted to something almost like concern as she returned her focus to his knee, still not answering the question yet. It wasn't that she was against others learning, but friendly samurai were always suspicious to her. Finally, she gave him an answer.

For the first question, she wiggled her left hand some. For the second question, she before shifted her hand up, palm upwards, and then gestured to him.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

This was exactly why he wanted to learn, because he wasn't entirely sure what she was trying to say. Kenzo was a risk taker but he didn't like offending people most of the time. Hoping he was right and she was asking him to copy her gesture for some reason he did, raising his hands to mimic hers looking entirely unsure of himself.

[Koumori]

She shook her head and got up, wiping her hands off on her smock as she did so. Once mildly clean, she picked up her book, sat down, and wrote in it. When she was finished, she showed it to him.

"It's based off of it, but I've added a few things here and there since the hand talk doesn't cover everything exactly since it's used for a military thing. And it's up to you if you want to learn. You don't have to."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I wouldn't be asking if I didn't want to." He said smiling warmly. "And this is a perfect example of why I want to. You deserve to be understood just like everyone else but I'm chatty and like to ask questions so you would probably run out of space in that book fast. This way all you have to risk running out of is patience with me."

[Koumori]

"I am understood by everyone. At least when I write. It's nice that way. Keeps people from bothering me to much, too, because they don't want to wait for me to write." She wrote before setting her book down. With her hands now free, she picked up a bandage and began wrapping his knee firmly.
