[Ikoma Matisutou]

"The Crab are fun, too," Matisutou notes, and offers the hand.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Arigato." rising he dusted himself off and straightened his clothes. "So you're the one huh?" He returned his wakizashi to it's proper place. "Your the one they sent to kill whatever is in there. Solid choice."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Beg pardon?" the Ikoma asks.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well, everyone who goes into the forest disappears, so it stands to reason that there may be something very deadly lurking in there. I'm a scout and hunter so my role here is pretty obvious. Based on that little demonstration you are a very skilled swordsman, you are fast and not easily shaken or fooled that makes you a prime candidate for the role of hero, the one who legends remember when the rest of the story fades away." He voice and smile were very warm. "The one who slays the mighty beast."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Daidoji-san flatters," Matisutou replies. "I will do what I can, if it comes to it, but I am nothing special."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well, you're no Hojatsu just yet but you have potential." He tossed a familiar looking bag at the Ikoma. "We all have things to improve on otherwise you would be Emerald Champion already." He smiled, confident that the Lion would evaluate how it had happened and adapt all on his own. "So how did you find your way to this island?"

[Ikoma Matisutou]

Matisutou fields the coin purse, cocking an eyebrow at the Daidoji as he tucks it back into his belt.

"Aboard ship. Same as you, if memory serves."

But I'll be counting my coins nightly, he thinks.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

That made him laugh heartily. "Yes, certainly, you have me there. I mean were you ordered here by your lord, did you volunteer; so far in my limited speaking with people not everyone seems to know why they were sent here. Forgive me if I am being too nosey, I think it is good to get to know the people you serve with."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Familiarity with comrades is helpful, yes," Matisutou acknowledges. "And it was determined that my skill-set would be of use here. But then, when is a swordsman not able to find use among samurai?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well I am happy to have one of your skill with us."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"I hope it will remain so," the Ikoma replies. "And your own skill-set may well prove useful, as well. Such would allow for any number of useful things to be kept ready, would it not?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Huh? Oh, yes well, it does come in handy but it's not born out of any great skill, I like to entertain children and it's great at that because the yare easily impressed by tricks. But it has saved my life once or twice." He flourished with his right hand and a knife appeared then disappeared and reappeared again. But I hope that my tricks and puppet shows aren't why I was sent here, that would mean this was a banishment not a reward for loyal service." He chuckled at the thought.

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Perish the thought," Matisutou says dryly.

But he grins, as well, making the jest clear.

"It's something as might be worth picking up."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

he pondered for a moment. "I hadn't really considered it but it has defiantly helped with my draw speed, so as long as it doesn't throw off your form it should be great for a duelist. I just started with learning how to roll a coin over my knuckles, that's where i would recommend someone start if they wanted to practice. Do you have any hidden talents Ikoma-san?"

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"The wise general says to never show all of what you know," Matisutou replies. "I am not a wise general, but I listen to wisdom when it is spoken to me."

He grins again.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"We are not enemies here Ikoma-san, at least I hope we are not; I simply wish to know when and where we should call upon each other. Things like if you are a skilled medic or can speak to animals or are a practiced cook could be very useful for others to know." His was genuine and never waivered

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"It was a jest," the Ikoma says. "But humor is not one of my talents, clearly.

"I have few. Duties have demanded focus in particular areas, as well as substantial practice in them. There's not been time for much else, more's the pity."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well perhaps this will be the place where you find time to discover a new passion, I don't think this will be ALL mud and death." he smiled warmly. "It's far too lovely for such darkness."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Let us hope you are correct, Daidoji-san," Matisutou says. "But I cannot trust it will be so yet."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Trust? No never, they could build a new capitol on this place and I would still be weary of it. Why was it hidden for so long and what is making people disappear? This whole island could be on the back of a giant creature for all we know. I can't wait to get started."
