"People that are not vital to the function of the settlement are rotated," she admits. "Might be you'd get a turn with a ship in a month or so."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Hmmm, I don't know, right now I don't fancy the idea of getting back on a boat." he laughed. "But it would mean I could cram some finer things into my pack to bring back here."

[Miya Akari]

"Exactly so," she replies with a smirk. Suggesting that she had done exactly that. But what finer things?

"I am looking forward to getting back into the forest though. It's exciting being one of the few people, even through history, to see the inside. It simultaneously feels great to see the pristine nature of the forest, but also feels a bit sad to be part of the group that is encroaching on it."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"So you have been in there and come back out? I thought everyone who goes beyond sight of the shore disappears."

[Miya Akari]

"No, everyone that loses sight of the shore is in danger of not being able to find their way back out. But the expeditions into the forest are done as a group and it makes it easier to navigate our way back out with the combined experience. Though it's still a difficult ordeal."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I see."

Everything in his posture and expression said Challenge Accepted.

"Yet entering the forest alone doesn't seem to be forbidden."

[Miya Akari]

"Neither is slapping a bear in the face. But it works out to have some sense."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Point taken." He was disappointed but clearly respected the Miya's experience and station enough that he probably wouldn't do anything stupid.

[Miya Akari]

"Besides, you have only been here a few hours. There is plenty to see along the shore too, and I'd bet that we'll be organizing an expedition soon."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

He raised his hands as if weighing the options. "Expedition into the unknown. Beach day. Damn this is a tough call on which I want more."

[Miya Akari]

"Every day is a beach day here," the imperial replied with a smirk. "It's not really a choice you need to make."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"How's the humidity in the forest? Are we talking sweating through our kimonos here?"

[Miya Akari]

"It's shadier than the beach, but the trees cut down on the wind that gets through. So humidity is about the same?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well that's good at least, i don't like wearing my armor but even without being told to I plan on wearing it our first time out."

[Miya Akari]

""We tend to wear our lightest clothes under armor. The expeditions can be lengthy. So it's important to travel light and be comfortable."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"That was my plan. I would rather just strip down to my fundoshi and cover myself in mud when I am tracking or hunting but clothing has its uses. You know those black body suits they always make the assassins wear in plays? I want one of those so bad it would be perfect for me.

[Miya Akari]

"I thought those were more for stage hands to blend with the curtain and not draw attention?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"yeah those too, same thing. In my home we use them for assassinations in a lot of plays, so that it looks like the blade is coming right out of the shadows. Seems like it would be perfect for scout duties, thin and flexible but still gives the mental security of not being nude. Nudity bothers some people."

[Miya Akari]

"Without a black backdrop is it actually useful?" she asks, apparently actually curious.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Yes and no, all black does stand out in the day but it's better at night and you could still smear it with mud and leaves and all that. It doesn't need to be black either, just a body suit like that would be good for moving in the brush. At least i imagine it would be, less to get snagged on branches, less chance of something falling off or getting ripped off you leaving evidence you were there." he shrugged. "More flattering to the figure."
