[D1 LE] A Late Dinner

[Miya Akari]

"It hasn't been seen since it was reported as gone by sailors passing by," she says with a shrug. "So thus far it hasn't returned. Can't say whether it will stay that way."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

The Ikoma nods.

"Few can say for certain what will come," he agrees. "But it is not in doubt that samurai will face bravely whatever does come."

[Miya Akari]

"Bravery is good. Facing problems with a plan and care is better."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Just so," Matisutou agrees. "And planning relies on intelligence. A Daidoji of recent acquaintance might be able to help with such."

[Miya Akari]

She nods at that. "I met him this morning. He seems quite capable and eager to get started."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Deft of hand, as well," the Ikoma notes. "Although less so with a sword. But different people will necessarily have different skills and talents."

[Miya Akari]

She nods at that taking another bite of sushi. Giving a few moments thought, she replied. "We'll likely have plenty of opportunities to support the mission with our varied talents. The call for support from the clans was not too specific in the skills desired. So we will likely come up with non-standard solutions to issues to make good use of the support provided."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Success is certain," Matisutou affirms, taking another drink.

He sighs, somewhat contentedly, and asks "Miya-sama seems to have expertise in the local geography; does she have a recommendation for places to train and contemplate?"

[Miya Akari]

"I prefer training on the beach, and contemplating in the cove," she offers. "The cove is quieter and gets fewer visitors. But on the beach you are more likely to run into potential sparring partners or other training. Akodo-sama will be running training in the morning tomorrow, bright and early. I probably won't make it, because I know I'll be exhausted and recovering, but if you are up for it he runs a rigorous regimen."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

Matisutou nods. "The information is appreciated. Many things must be practiced diligently."

[Miya Akari]

"Anything you prefer to do for fun other than practice and training?" she asks, curious if the serious Lion knew how to have fun.

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"Reading," comes the reply, "although more casually than is perhaps best. But duty demands much time, leaving little for leisure or dedicated study. This one is not an Omoidasu, after all."

Matisutou regards Akari for a moment before venturing to ask "What does Miya-sama do in her free time?"

[Miya Akari]

"I spend time outside. Enjoying days and evenings under an open sky. I enjoy fishing as well, and spend a fair amount of time on that." The imperial seems content with the answer.

"More historical or dramatic reading?"

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"More the former than the latter. Plays don't reward silent reading, after all," he answers. "Net fishing or hook-and-line?"

[Miya Akari]

"Hook and line, but I can net as well. I prefer the individual battle with an opponent though. Timing and strategy become important when it's one on one like that. With a net? You just lure them in then pull them out. Great for food, not for sport."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"That makes sense," the Ikoma replies, nodding. "Admittedly, duties have prevented much pursuit of such activities. But they sound restful and good."

[Miya Akari]

"I'm not sure how busy we'll be here, but it tends to get very busy in bursts. Then we have periods where we recover rest, train and prepare for the next big thing."

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"That sounds..." Matisutou struggles for the word "different. But this would seem to be one of those restful times, at least for now, correct?"

[Miya Akari]

"Today at least. Unloading then storing supplies and letting new folks get settled in. I'm sure it's going to pick up soon. At the very least we'll probably get news about the plan. We may start preparing for next steps tomorrow." She seems to have accepted this nebulous state of affairs.

[Ikoma Matisutou]

"It will be a pleasure."

The Ikoma finishes his drink.

"Is there anything with which Miya-sama would like assistance?" he asks.
