"Maybe we will get lucky and Blessed Shinsei will send us a crow."

"Actually, birds are a good choice- because the smaller ones tend not to be so... afraid of us."

A wild boar would have been ideal, in her admittedly inexpert opinion, but she also figured any such animals near the village would be.... wary.

"Look at this, you said you weren't sure why you were here but I think this is exactly why. You're probably exactly what this place needs."

She blinked. Cocked her head to the side.

"You may be right, Kenzo-san. I suppose we'll see... for all I know, the local wildlife is part of it and won't help us at all."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Now there is a disturbing thought, did you try and communicate with any of the salamanders today?"

[Shiba Yukari]

Time warpage meant it was difficult to answer that question, so Yukari's player opted to play it safe.

"I couldn't find any that let me get close enough- not that that's a surprise, if they've learned that humans are hunting them."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"What do salamanders eat? Fish I presume? Maybe we can try feeding them to build up their confidence in us. We definitely need to get Miya-sama to order a stop to the hunting though. Maybe I will go see her in the morning."

[Shiba Yukari]

"The hard part may be persuading others to heed any such orders..."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Did you see the size of Moto-sama? I don't think anyone is going to want to piss him off."

[Shiba Yukari]

"Assuming he catches them at it..."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

He laughed. "You don't seem to have much faith in the people here."

[Shiba Yukari]

"Oh, I have absolute faith in them. In their creativity, in their drive... which is why I know that any who really like either the hunt or the meat will be about as good at following strictures on the subject as I was at obeying my sensei's orders to not collect quite so many flowers during my training."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I guess I will have to add Game Warden to my list of duties here then. I don't want you to have to worry about this."

[Shiba Yukari]

"Don't do it for me, Kenzo-san."

She smiled.

"Do it for the salamanders."

"Can't I do it for both?"

[Shiba Yukari]

"If you like!"

"Good. Hopefully people will stop, I would hate to have to build a little shack out by the cove and start sleeping there. That just sounds like it would be cold and lonely."

"I suppose we'll see- maybe I could just make a big nasty illusion of some kind of monster to scare people away..."

His smile turned into a slightly devious grin. "How do you feel about white lies Yukari-san?"

"A bad habit to get into, but impossible to avoid sometimes..."
