Hiruka is the leader of the expedition attempting to uncover the secrets of Furihumu island. After having led several failed attempts in other areas of Rokugan before, there are whispers that this is her last chance to make something more than a failure out of herself. Whether the rumors are true or not, she's working diligently in an attempt to make sure that this mission goes as smoothly as possible without any casualties.

Name: Moto Mura
Clan: Unicorn
Position: 2nd in command. Leader of the Emperor's Explorers.
Marital Status: Married.
Age: 43

Moto Mura is a man of few words, believing that actions speak louder. As such, he's a welcomed and well-known face to many, as his background is decorated with successful adventures and luck. Though of higher status than Hiruka, he's allowed her to take the lead, though he closely advises her when he feels it is necessary.

Name: Asako Qi

Position: Spiritual advisor. Nuisance.
Marital Status: Single
Age: A lady never tells.

Asako Qi is one of the first people heard when newcomers arrive to the island. Often, it's her complaining about how a grain of sand ended up in her sandal or how the wind won't stop blowing her hair around, causing her to not look her best. Yet, as pampered and spoiled as she is, she's claimed to hold no small amount of spiritual gifts, which is why the Phoenix forced her to go. However, while that is the reason she gives, many say behind her back that the Phoenix just wanted her out of sight and out of mind.

Name: Shosuro Zhuchong
Clan: Scorpion
Position: Soldier? No one is really sure.
Marital Status: ?
Age: ?

A moth by any other name would be a pest and vermin. Eating constantly into clothes and just getting in the way of things. Perfect food for lizards and bats, however. Zhuchong's reason for being here is rather unknown, much like how he got here. Yet, no one questions him too much. He's helped out around the island and is an excellent cook and fisher both. Rumor has it that he's trying to get people together for a draw lot night.

Name: Kaiu Kyo
Clan: Crab
Position: Lead Architect
Marital Status: Married.
Age: 28

There's not much to truly say about the Crab that lurks around the island, making sure that every building is properly built and up to specs. For her, this is where she fights. When the bushi return from the forest, they require a strong, fortified place that can serve as both a sturdy shelter against the strong winds and rains of the island while also providing comfort. Yet, she is often smelling of opium and some believe she's paying people to smuggle it onto the island for her.

Name: Akodo Karutsu
Clan: Lion
Position: Martial Advisor
Marital Status: Married.
Age: 41

Karutsu might be older and more frail on the outside than he'd like to admit, but his heart is full of youth and lust for adventure. When the Lion offered it as a position, he immediately took them up, brought several troops, and came to the island without complaint. Though the seas were rough on him, he fought through and now here, he works to identify what creatures might lurk in the forest that calls the island home. As such, he works closely with Asako Qi, though he doesn't seem to enjoy the unusual punishment.

Name: Daidoji Kasai

Position: Muscle (Intimidation)
Marital Status: Single (No one has wanted to marry him)
Age: 24

Like many in his family, Kasai is a protector... Yet, he takes a much more proactive approach, as his personal motto is 'No one can get hurt if the enemies are on the ground melting.' His affinity for fire is worrisomely similar to that of a Phoenix trainee in a library, but Hiruka has managed to reign him in for the time being and as long as he doesn't set fire to the forest, then all is well.

Do not ask him about spiritual advice. It's all just wrong.
