[D1 EA] Sitting On The Dock of the Bay

[Miya Akari]

Akari sits on the dock near the fishing buildings with a line cast into the sea. She was whistling a tune while she watched clouds and didn't actually see that her line was wiggling from a bite. It was just too nice a day to concern herself with actually catching anything.

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"You need to pull in your line." The calm, empty voice of Yingzi said from behind her. The Scorpion was exploring the area,
getting to know the lay of the land. "Unless you are attempting to let the fish tire itself out first."

[Miya Akari]

The mention of her line draws her attention back to it from the clouds and she gives a strong pull to set the hook. His timing had been impeccable and she had the fish on the line. "Thanks!" she said, sudden excitement replacing the lazy enjoyment from seconds earlier.

She starts hauling the fish in, fighting against it. But this one is apparently quite a fighter. "Oh kami. DId I hook an eel? This might take a while," she says with a smirk, looking to the Shosuro.

"This might take a while, Shosuro-san. Settle in and we can chat while I try and tire this one out. Seems you were right on needing to do that."

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"Do you not have a net to pull it in with? Sitting and attempting to pull in such a seemingly large catch is a tiring affair that is easily corrected with another tool." He commented without sitting down. "It lessens the potential to have the string break as well."

He either did not catch the opening she was trying to give or he was purposefully ignoring it for some reason as he walked over to one of the poles and stood beside it to be out of the way of any dock workers that might be putting away supplies still.

"I will say that unagi will be a good treat at the side of all the fish and rice."

[Miya Akari]

"I've got one, it's over there," sh says looking to a pack that had her fishing gear. "But I'll still need to pull it in close enough for it to be useful."

"The eel here are strong fighters. Gotta let them have some line first while working them so the don't break the line."

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"The eels have never had to deal with a human trying to eat them to be fair. I think anyone would put up a strong fight to something like that."

That was about all he could add to the conversation. He knew nothing about fishing other than the very rudimentary basics that didn't apply to creatures like eels.

[Miya Akari]

"I am sure that the eel has relatively strong feelings on the subject," she agrees. "Just like anyone put into a new situation."

"How has your first morning here been?"

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"It has been a new situation." That might've been his way of trying to joke but the flat tone of his voice made it difficult to tell if it was one or not. "I can see why many find this place beautiful but I hold no strong feelings towards it. It is just another location in which I shall perform my duties to the best of my abilities like a proper samurai." A pause.

"How as yours been?"

[Miya Akari]

"It's been pretty good. Caught up with Asako-san, so that was nice. Met the Daidoji from the boat. Now I get to meet you while enjoying some fishing by the ocean on a lovely day," she replied with a light smile. "So thanks for helping to brighten it."

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"I would not say that my presence is a brightening one. I have been told that I am particularly bland when compared to others." He stated in his usual tone. "However it seems that you have had quite a busy day so far and it is not even halfway over yet."

[Miya Akari]

"One need not be a brightening presence to brighten a day. I just enjoy meeting new people, and so by approaching me you've done so. And yes, busy, and yet to be more busy still. Quite a few messages to deliver to the people that stayed here while I went on my mainland excursion."

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"I think many would disagree as do I on that statement. Though it is changed by the fact that you like meeting new people but what about when you meet those that are unsavory? Do you hold the same belief and enjoy meeting them even as they are grating?"

[Miya Akari]

"I won't know if I will like them or not until I get to know more about them. But the process of learning about someone is enjoyable. Sometimes it is the process and not the purpose that interests. I could love cooking but hate the food I cook."

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"That would be a waste. Spending time making food only to not care for it. Even making it for someone else would still mean that you would need another meal for you to eat." He commented. "Have you never had the feeling when you look at someone? That they are unpleasant and you do not like them?"

[Miya Akari]

"To varying degrees. But sometimes you can look at someone, find them appealing and be put off by a bad personality. I guess I believe in finding out if the opposite is true, if someone unappealing on first look might be very interesting to speak with."

She gives the line some slack.

[Shosuro Yingzi]

"That is not what I meant. I was not talking about physical or romantic attraction. I was speaking about that gut feeling when you look at someone and immediately dislike them but you cannot put your finger on it."

[Miya Akari]

She shakes her head at that. "I can't say I've felt that really? I have gotten feelings like that suggesting someone is dangerous or that they are not in a mood to talk. But not really a feeling that I would not like them. Why?"

She seems curious about that.
