[Miya Akari]

After having tossed her bag in her room Akari came back down and greeted Toshi. "Toshi-san. It's nice to see you again. What did the fishermen reel it today?" she asks, her standard way of requesting a small bowl of sashimi with whatever was freshest. She was not a picky eater in general, but she did have a strong love for the freshness here.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

Kenzo was slow in reaching the inn, having taken his time looking around the small settlement. Seeing the Miya he sets his things down by the door and walks over but doesn't sit down. "There really isn't much here yet is there Akari-sama?"

[Miya Akari]

"There is plenty if you like simple things," she replied as ahe is handed a bowl of sashimi. She waves over a second set of chopsticks for the crane. "Try it."

The bowl had a mix of absolutely fresh fish, but no rice. Exactly how she preferred it. A small bowl of soy sauce was set next to it.

She took a slice of fish and dipped it before eating.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Thank you for the offer but I am still trying to realign with the earth, I'm not sure food would sit well just yet." As if to prove him right he sat down a bit shakily. "So I'm certain to get a formal briefing soon how about you give me a bit of a preview, how does exploration usually work here? Can I just grab some supplies and venture into the wilds?"

[Miya Akari]

"You can certainly try if you like. But people tend not to return from such endeavors. We organize explorations as group outings," she says.

She looks to Toshi and points to Kenzo and herself. "Water?" To which the man obliges with two cups of water.

"We've nearly gotten lost even with experienced folks at the head of those groups already. It's not something to be taken lightly."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Oh I do not take it lightly at all Miya-sama, I don't imagine my clan would have sent me somewhere...soft. Please forgive me if I seem blasé, I am just eager to explore but I can wait till a formal expedition moves out, I am sure I can find things to entertain me here for now. A good tan will help me a great deal and I don't expect much will demand my attention on the first day here so I may make my way to the beach shortly." He sipped the offered water. "Probably after I find my cousin here and introduce myself. What do you do for fun here?"

[Miya Akari]

"Spending time with people is the best way to have fun around here. Enjoying nature, fresh fish and the water with others. Plenty of fishing to do if you enjoy that as well. Just hang out down at the docks," she says, listing her preferences. "Lots of beache space. Tiny sands and the cove."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I'm certainly going to need to learn how to fish it would seem. I'm more of a hunter but I imagine it will take some time to figure out what we are allowed to hunt. Have you been on many expeditions yet?"

[Miya Akari]

"I am Hiruka-sama's yojimbo, so I have been on all of them, unless she arranged any since my trip to the mainland," she replies. "I suspect she has not, as I was not away that long and our most recent expedition was just before I left."

"You might be interested in crabbing and oyster diving if you prefer more physical activity. The pearls collected are considered property of the expedition, and go towards offsetting costs, but the fresh oyster is delicious."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"That certainly sounds more my speed thank you for the suggestion. Perhaps you could show me a good spot to do that some time, you seem fond of the water so this must be a dream posting for you."

[Miya Akari]

"Not a dream, but it has charms I can't deny. I can show you the spots where others do so, but I am not a strong enough swimmer for that. I mostly just stick to shallows and enjoy the waves," she admits.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well if you can show me where I would be happy to share whatever bounty the sea grants me with you. I wonder, are there any children here among the Heimin? I did not see any in my glance around the settlement, to dangerous?"

[Miya Akari]

"It is a bit dangerous in general, but safe enough to live for the most part. Most here are travelling workers. I believe there are a few heimin children, but not many. The samurai expect to return home at some point though, so their families are back there."

"And I will show you tomorrow. I will be making rounds to deliver letters to the samurai here today," she offers.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I look forward to it, thank you and I am happy hear there are some children here, my puppets get lonely when they have no one to entertain and few adults seem to enjoy them. Is there advice or warnings you may have for me? Anyone you think I should be sure to meet or perhaps avoid?"

[Miya Akari]

"I say meet everyone you can. Never truly know who you're going to get along with unless you meet them," she replied.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Fair enough, I should shouldn't bring any preconceived notions into this place I suppose. I would hate for someone to do that with me." He chuckled lightly.

[Miya Akari]

"That's why they call the Inn here New Beginnings. Almost everything about this place is unwritten," she replied.

"So you are a puppeteer then? I've seen very few puppet shows in my life. Though I also tend to see fewer plays and other scripted performances," she admits.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"I am yes though an amateur I assure you. I was fond of them when I was a child and figured other children might like them." He looked a touch embarrassed as he pulled 3 hand puppets out of his sleeve, placing them before the Miya. One was female Crane in courtly clothing, perhaps Lady Doji or just any Doji courtier, the second was a dashing Kakita duelist and the third was a little peasant child. "I do little voices, I like the sound of children laughing. I have a few more elaborate puppets in my bag."

[Miya Akari]

She nods at that. "Well, I look forward to seeing a performance one of these days. There has been a shortage of proper entertainment here. A great deal of drinking and poor singing from people that are just relaxing, but not a lot in the way of actual productions or shows."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well I'm not sure I could enrapture a group of samurai but I am keen to try I suppose, even if I am laughed it that will still serve as some stress relief. Do you practice any arts or hobbies?"
