[D1, LE] What a day, what a place (Open)

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Yoshi-san right? Can I have a couple bottles, and like you served Miya-sama in the Inn this morning."..."That wasn't you? Your brother? Oh, my mistake well, some food of any kind then; whatever you have." Kenzo took a seat near the window facing the water and waited for his meal to arrive.

[Shiba Yukari]

Is this building... safe?

She'd meant to eat at the inn, before realizing that she was running a very real risk of retreating into her room and possibly never emerging again.

So Shiba Yukari had meant to, well, live a little.

But the ramshackle structure didn't exactly fill her with confidence, and she was a bit nervous as she walked in, half-expecting the whole thing to collapse on her head.

Oh, Fortunes, this is going to be an adjustment...

[Daidoji Kenzo]

The sound of soft steps on the rough floor caught his attention and he turned towards the door.

"Ah, Shiba-san, come for a drink? please join me." His friendly grin reached his eyes and his face was flushed with probably too much sun.

[Shiba Yukari]

A one-eyed Crane... been outside a great deal by the look of him. He was on the boat, but I was a bit busy trying not to vomit, did I introduce myself? I may have been too focused on praying to Suitengu for mercy...

She bowed politely.

"Er, dinner was more my plan, Daidoji-san... not sure my stomach is settled from the trip here to handle sake. This one is Shiba Yukari, of the Tejina."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

He bowed in return. "Just was well, this is probably the worst sake I have ever had but I have some food on the way, you are welcome to join me." He gestured to the seat across from him. "I am Daidoji Kenzo and it is a pleasure to meet you." He continued to smile pleasantly.

I'm not surprised she doesn't remember me, she was several shades of green when I tried to introduce myself on the boat and I may have looked the same.

[Shiba Yukari]

"The pleasure is mine, Daidoji-san, the moreso as I am now spared dining alone."

She took the offered seat and.... looked around.

"Not sure I've ever seen a building quite like this one, but then again, this island is... full of things I've never seen, so I suppose that's to be expected."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

Kenzo glanced around. "It is a bit of a mess but I'm sure it's only temporary, the inn and forge took precedence I'm sure." He gestured to the bar keeper. "Shiba-san will be dining with me so please bring an extra serving and some..." He looked at his company. "Tea or water?"

[Shiba Yukari]

"Oh, water if it's less trouble..."

Besides which, real tea was probably at a premium here.

"My thanks, Daidoji-san. Er.... I assume you've been sent to help explore the island?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

Please, call me Kenzo, there are too few of us to stand on formalities. You guess is as good as mine, I am a scout yes but I haven't been given any specific instruction yet. I'm used to defending a place not exploring it so this should be very interesting for me. What of yourself, are you a...let me try and guess...a map-maker?"

[Shiba Yukari]

"A... map-maker?"

She blinked.

"No, I am afraid not Dai- Kenzo-san. Nothing so.... obviously of use here. I am primarily an artist and entertainer. I rather doubt I'll be much help when it comes to exploration."

And I am consequently baffled about what I'm doing here.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"An artist and entertainer? A woman after my own heart. While I have no training I have a fondness for puppetry, what is your passion?" When the food and drinks arrived he filler her cup.

[Shiba Yukari]

"Oh, I can't pick just one, D- Kenzo-san!" She laughed. "When it comes to performance, I can do a bit of everything, although my training has mostly focused on songs and storytelling. And the arts, well... again, I'm something of a generalist, although gardening and ikebana are a particular focus. And, well... as a Tejina, I suppose I could also be said to work in illusions."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Tejina?" he rolled the word and it's meaning around in his head for a moment. "I'm not familiar with the practice, is it like the dragons art with colored sky-fires?"

[Shiba Yukari]

"Not as such- a bit more like, well..."

She paused. Looked around.

"Might not be the best place for a demonstration, but I could try?"

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"Well if you aren't going to blow this place up it should be fine." He leaned forward with deep interest at what she would do next.

[Shiba Yukari]

Yukari closed her eyes and whispered something under her breath.

A golden peach tree, clipped down to bonsai size, appeared to sprout from the tabletop between them, every visual cue of the fantastical image flawless.

[Daidoji Kenzo]

"By the fortunes!" he reached out to touch it but pulled up short. "This is magic, the Tejina are shugenja?" His hand still hovered near it but he didn't want to spoil whatever he was witnessing. "I have never seen anything like this."

[Shiba Yukari]

"You can touch it- well, actually, you can't, because it's just an illusion. That's our focus- calling upon the air kami to entertain. I'm pleased it has made an impression. Some of our number, more... advanced students, can craft illusions that incorporate more senses. I have to get by with only visual effects."

[Daidoji Kenzo]

With her words he ran his hand through the image. "That is quite impressive, can they be larger; like could you do a full sized tree? I thought my puppets were entertaining but I can't hold a candle to you."

[Shiba Yukari]

"With a bit of preparation, and a suitable space, I could probably do a small tree. Or anything else I can imagine, if it'll fit into about ten feet or so."
